Council History
Santa Maria Council was founded in 1909 in Haddon Heights, N.J. through the efforts of sixty local Catholic men. It is named after the Mother of Our Lord, the Patron Saint of the Camden Diocese.
For almost forty years, the council based its operations in a residential home converted into a club house at 209 White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights. Ownership of the home was made possible from the generosity of a charter member, Michael D. Manning and his wife. The current council home, in Haddon Township was dedicated in September 1955.
Santa Maria Council is proud to be the home council of:
- Past State Deputy (1944-1946) Robert H. Rabe (deceased)
- Past State Deputy (1996-1998) Joseph M. Cummings, KGHS
- Supreme Director Reginald F. Beckett, KC*HS, PSD
